I'm very happy to announce that I joined the Board of Directors of P1.cn. P1.cn is a private (by invitation only) social network for young affluent Chinese, a target group that is expected to grow from 20 million to 80 million over the next decade. I've been impressed by the different approach they have taken to social networking and the high quality brands and advertisers they have managed to attract. Looking forward to start working with the Swedish/Chinese founders & the board on this exciting venture!
When the affluent Chinese are pretty much a sub-set of the larger community at QZone, Kaixin, Xiaonei and now even Facebook. what would become the primary reasons for the affluent to stick by P1. I am asking these questions specially keeping in mind that the early adopters of Facebook would be the "affluent" and "opinion leaders" and not the masses. Its pretty much the disco/pub phenomenon where the paparazzi would chase the affluent and the affluent would find "newer" places to hang out. Some of these were established in India too early on with Orkut and Facebook both. Would love to hear your views - if possible.
