Dianping (Chinese for review), a well known Chinese restaurant review site, released a new upgraded service, reports China Web2.0 review. The new service is expanding into reviews of local business such as night clubs, spa’s, shops etc. They have also added Flickr-like groups, tagging and ajax based stuff too. As many other Chinese online services, it still has a significant revenue sources among offline publishing, VIP cards affiliations from restaurants, but what is really interesting is that they are now generating revenues from mobile search as well.
Dianping + Spearcast (that I wrote about a few days ago) would make perfect sense to me in China.
