Outsourcing My life: Comments via Video By Loic Le Meur

    Scaled Image-3

After my blog post followed by my video post on outsourcing my life. Loic responded in a brilliant way. He created a video comment on my video and challenged me to continue the conversation with him and our viewers via video. What a great idea!

As you can see from Loic's comment, he too  decided to join the outsourcing my life idea and I connected him with Brickwork as well. We're now both on the way on this experiment and I will update you all tomorrow via video on how it goes.

BTW, check out the great video/TV site vpod.tv - Loic's & my video is now on their front page. Stay tuned - another coming tomorrow.

    Outsourcing My Life: The Video

Here it is. It's all Loic's fault that I made this video.

    Outsourcing My Life

Inspired by Timothy Ferris book "The 4 Hour Workweek" and AJ Jacobs, editor-at-large at Esquire magazine, I have just taken the first steps to outsource my life. Being a Swede/Israeli living in Israel, running the business of Maxthon, based in China while spending lots of time on the road especially in the US and running Mashup Media can be quite a challenge.

So when I heard Timothy Ferriss speak at the Web 2.0 Expo last month I got inspired. I have always been of the opinion that you don't need to run around, answer all your emails and talk on the phone all the time to get real results. I never picked up the book, but today I stumbled upon Timothy's website and read the account of how AJ Jacobs outsourced his life.

This is music to my ears! I just know that this is the right thing todo. I immediately contacted Brickwork
, and now I am sitting here all excited waiting to take the first step in oursourcing my life. I already work on a daily basis with China, US and Europe, so why not add India to the sauce as well? I've always loved a good curry.

I will let you know how it goes as the story develops..

    The Master does nothing,
    yet he leaves nothing undone.
The ordinary man is always doing things,
yet many more are left to be done.

    Tao Te Ching

    Let the story begin..

    My Personal Google Search History

    Scaled Image-2

I just checked my personal search history on Google and it's quite fascinating. I learned the following about my search habits that I didn't have any clue of:

    1. I search mostly during January and November
    2. I search mostly on Thursday followed by Wednesday
    3. My search activity is at peak at 2pm

What are your search habits? A quick analysis of this seems to imply that I am search mostly during the winter months, my search activities are mostly intensive towards the end of the week (in Israel Thursday IS Friday) when I have got the most important stuff done and I have more free time. Finally, I my search activities reaches its peak a 2pm - that is after lunch when I am more relaxed and I am in a discovery mood.

Traditional Media Dead? Not Yet - 10 New Uses For Newspaper

Scaled ImageWith the advent of citizen journalism, blogging, twitters, youtubers and the overall fragmentation of news, traditional media is trying hard to find new ways or not being irrelevant. Here are 10 new uses for newspaper:

    1. Deodorize food containers. Stuff a balled-up piece of newspaper into a lunch box or thermos, seal it, and let sit overnight.
    2. Ripen tomatoes. Wrap them individually and leave them out at room temperature.
    3. Pack delicate items. Wrap frames and figurines with several pieces of newspaper, then crumple the remaining sections to fill extra space in the box.
    4. Wipe away tough streaks on glass. Use newspaper with cleaning fluid to clean mirrors and windows.
    5. Preserve antique glass. Some older frames have finishes on the glass that can be damaged by cleaning solutions. Remove smudges by rubbing with newspaper dipped in a solution of one part white vinegar and one part warm water. Let air-dry.
    6. Dry shoes. Place crumpled paper in them overnight.
    7. Wrap gifts. Use the comics to wrap a child’s birthday gift, or try the wedding announcements for an engagement gift.
    8. Create a home for slushy snow boots. During the winter, keep a pile of newspaper near the entryway. When your little snowmen and -women come home, they can toss their winter wear onto the newspaper instead of creating puddles on the floor.
    9. Prepare a garden. In the fall, mow a patch of lawn to make room for a dedicated bed. Cover it with four layers of newspaper, then a four-inch layer of shredded leaves or bark mulch. Hose it down. Come spring, the compost blanket will have smothered the grass roots, and the bed will be primed for planting.
    10. Keep the refrigerator vegetable drawer dry and free of smells. Line the bottom with newspaper.

Who said that newspapers are dead? The above proves that they can be really useful in daily life. Soon coming : 10 New users for TV and Radio.

The above 10 points were found here but in a totally different context...

    Have You Become an iPuppet?

Idontipuppetposter9yw Must say that I Iove this campaign for SanDisk’s Sansa. Very creative and funny and using Apple’s marketing trics against themselves to promote their own alternative.

Check out the mini-site called lilmonsta . Love the creative and copy. Came across this while searching for Maxthon users on MySpace.

In a world of streamlined smooth advertising, this  kind really sticks out and at least graps my attention.

Sansa - Me? I have 3 iPods and a MacBookPro, so I guess I am guilty of being an iPuppet too..

Entrepreneurs & Business men - The True Peace makers

I have been thinking for a quite a while what it would take to make peace in the Middle East, and in the rest of the world for that matter. Especially what kind of DNA the real peace makers are made of.

I have like many others, long time ago lost the faith in governments, politicians, international organizations and non-profit organizations. Governments are still the leading peace makers but also the biggest obstacle to real peace.

Politicians are blinded by their own ego and their hidden agendas are often the real obstacle for true peace. Weakened by their relatively short term in office, they are too engaged in clinging unto power at any price. This leads to short term considerations and betrayal of it’s citizens.

Enter the entrepreneur and business man.

Throughout history, business men and entrepreneurs have seen governments rise and fall. Focused on succeeding with their endeavors under any circumstances, the business men and entrepreneurs have always been seeking out new creative ways on the road to success and prosperity.

Although spread out all over the world, coming from different cultures and religions, they all speak and understand the same language.

The language of money, success and education.

They all understand that in order to succeed and prosper- peaceful relationships are essential. No one understand the value of partnerships more than business men.

They say that money does not smell. That might be true. Whether you are Iranian, Israeli, Syrian, Jewish, Muslim or Christian - the value of money and success is the same. It is one language we all speak and understand.

Although countries might be in a state of war with each other. There have always been unofficial, underground activity between business men and entrepreneurs across boarders and between enemy states. Here in Israel where I live, this has been true since the existence of the Jewish state.

Although we might be in a state of war with neighboring countries, there has always been contacts between business men across the boarders.

Ideologies. Politics. Governments and religion. They are all secondary to the business man and entrepreneur.

The business man and the entrepreneur understands the value of partnerships.
The business man and entrepreneur are pro-actively seeking each other out to partner, even though their governments might be in conflict.
The business men and entrepreneur understands the value of a good deal.

It is against this background, that I dare to say that the future of real peace making lies with the business men and entrepreneurs.

They have the vision, the passion, the common interest and the drive to do great things, to succeed, to reach out to others, to want to share their “collective intelligence” and show others how they can succeed too.

I know that there is a lot of talented business people and entrepreneurs out there that understands exactly what I mean. We might not share the same ideologies, religions or political points of view - but we all share the language, the passion to succeed , do great things and prosper.

I am considering forming some kind of network for this purpose... What do you think?

    Open-Source Peace Corps...?

User Generated Maxthon Promotions From China

Banner There is nothing more stimulating than when you see passionate users creating their own stuff to promote their favorite products & services. This is true love. The Maxthon community is a perfect example for this. I digged through the Chinese Maxthon Forum and found a couple of cool banners with a unique twist.

I have no idea what they say yet (Chinese readers - help me out on these two ;) but I like them. And there are tons of them. I will digg some more and see if I can find some more interesting stuff.
