China Web2.0 Review, raises some interesting questions regarding top ranking bloggers in Taiwan, China and actully about Blog ranking in general. According to the post Technorati ranks XY Jinglei is the top blogger based on links back to her blog while services such as Zhuaxia regards Keso as the most popular.
Against this background, it is interesting to learn that a project called Blog Look consisting of several Taiwanese bloggers have started to rate blogs on several parameters like:
- Number of pages indexed by Google
- Number of Google, Yahoo and Google Blogsearch backlinks
- Technorati rank
- Blog influence number
- Bloglines subscription data
- Number of de.icio.us bookmarks on the URL
- and more
However, in Technorati it is only ranked 548. It is even more interesting to learn that the most recent post indexed in Technorati was 256 days ago - although it is updated several times a week.
I find these findings very interesting. Espcially since I have noticed myself that Technorati is not very reliable as an indexing tool. This became clear when I launched the Anyfilms.net campaign for Samsung Mobile last December. While Google Blog Search managed to pick-up most blog posts very quickly, Technorati failed seriously.
I dont know what the problem is but I really think that Technorati should pay closer attention to this. As for now, I prefer to use Google Blogsearch as my search engine for tracking down buzz, while I use Technorati for discovering new blogs.
