Perhaps some of you have noticed a significant speed improvement in Maxthon 2.0 Beta 1. If so, that is because it is empowered by Maxthon Smart Acceleration ("MSA:).
acb@home (aka) Alik explains to us what MSA is and what it is good for:
What is MSA and why do I need it?
For long time users have been waiting for Maxthon's rich features coupled Opera's speed. We have actively been researching on speed improvement and the latest MSA is the result of this, and consists of many optimizations based on general user habits, network transmission efficiency, browser cache mechanism and contents interpretation intelligence.
Currently MSA has two acceleration modes:

Lately I have been thinking a lot of the delivery of new web services and the role that the browser plays here. Since more and more services are moving from being client-based to web-based the browser has become the focal point of delivery and interaction of these services. This is especially true with the advent of tabbed browsing.
Since I started to use Google Docs & Spreadsheets more frequently, I came up with this idea of creating a number of tabs for the rapid delivery of these services. So I created a group of tabs in Maxthon and called them "My office". When I launch this group, all my "office" tabs : Gmail, Google Calendar, Spreadsheets, Documents and Notebook are opened (see above). It's amazing how simple this was and what a change it brought about for me in terms of efficiency and user-friendlyness. Obviously, "My Office tabs" can consist of more services like "My accounts", "My Salesforce" or anything that you like.
When I had the opportunity last week to meet with the group at Google responsible for their Communications services like Gmail, Calendar, G-Talk, Spreadsheets etc, I demonstrated this delivery mechanism and discussed this "new browser role". I am sure that we haven't even scratched the surface on how these type of services could be better integrated or delivered in browsers. It will be interesting to see how this will evolve.
What do you think? How do you think the browser can play a better role in delivering the new web-services?

We just released the first version of BlogEx, a blog extension for Maxthon. Now you can:
The Google Bookmarks Sidebar Plugin for Maxthon was recently released.
This Plugin:

This is awesome! Chris Pirillo a.k.a known as "Lockergnome" probably our biggest, pro-active and most passionate evangelists out there, and organiser of the the famous Gnomedex, was using Maxthon as the default browser for all the presentations at Gnomedex06!
Now some of them are available at Podtech.net. Watch them here at PodTech.net . Or what do you say about seeing David Winer talking about " How to make money on the Internet" with a huge projection of Maxthon in the background.
I especially like the one with Farecast, where they guys got a bit confused at the set up and Chris comes in and says " BTW, I use Maxthon as my browser so it opens up as a background Tab.."
This is marketing at it’s best:
We love you forever Chris! There is nothing more passionate than this...
Just wanted to tell you all that then next Maxthon 1.x release will support the Google Toolbar, so keep your eyes open over the next couple of days. Finally all Maxthon users can enjoy all the benefits the Google Toolbar brings. On another note we are also happy to announce that Maxthon will be supporting most IE-based toolbars too.
I thought I was going to be the first to do this. But it seems that somebody else was faster :). Found this pictures of a Maxthon installation on a Mac using CrossoverMac. Cool!

Last weekend we invited 10 of our most active Chinese Maxthon developers to Beijing for the first Maxthon developer conference. We had developers coming from all parts of China to the Maxthon headquarters in Beijing. The first day was spend at the Maxthon headquarters meeting with Jeff Chen, Maxthon CEO and founder, the rest of the Maxthon team and a visit to the Tian'nemen square. The second day included a trip to the Great Wall and the Kunming Lake and the Yihe palace. The conference was a hit and we have decided to do a similar developers conference for the international audience in Beijing, time and place yet to be decided. Here’s some picture from the event by Richard (one of the main Maxthon team developers).

Above is Jeff Chen.. Maxthon founder and CEO welcomes the the crowd and spoke about Maxthon’s history and what lies ahead.

Breakfast and another presentation about the latest development by the Maxthon team

Group photo in front of the Maxthon entrance and a happy Maxthon gang at the Great Wall (see the new cool Maxthon flag?).

The obligatory pictures at Tian’anmen Square, Beijing. For several of the developers this was their first time in Beijing.

Hanging out at the Kunming Lake, Yihe Palace.

Saying goodbye is always difficult, but see you again soon. This was the first, but certainly not the last Maxthon developers conference. It was great Maxthon developers bonding after having only known each others by their screen names before in the Maxthon forum. It was also very valuable for us to get input from these core users – after all it is great users like these that makes Maxthon the success that it is.
Yesterday I had the opportunity to meet one of the most active Maxthon forum members and plugin developers, Alik Yong a.k.a abc@home. Alik is really a very nice guy who is a finance controller by training, but hangs out it the Maxthon forum when ever he can. We had a great time together chatting about Maxthon and trying to hunt down a Camcorder in a terribly rainy Hong Kong. Unfortunately it was so wet and humid that the picture came out all fuzzy. Anyway it was fun to meet yet another face behind those cryptic screen names. I will try to do this more often when I can and even Vlog it as well in the future. A great thanks to Alik for helping me get a camcorder and a MacBook Pro (do I dare to say that here?) in a soaking wet Hong Kong.
We just released a long waited for Guide to create Maxthon Plugins (PDF). This Guide gives you a clear overview on how to create:
Please feel free to pass it on to any services out there that you would like to develop plugins for in Maxthon. Since this is the first version, we would love to hear from you on how we can make it better and if anything is missing etc.
Maxthon has finally got a number of Blog-related Plugins:

The Technorati Sidebar plugin functions similarly to the Technorati Mini . In addition you can:

With the Typepad Plugin, you can easily post about something you’ve read Online to your Typepad blog. Just select the text on a website, press the plugin button and post it to your blog. It works just like the “Quick Post” bookmarklet, but can also copy the full html-code from any selection.

The co.Comments Plugin allows you to:
Hope that you enjoy them!
