Charles River Ventures Invests in Maxthon
I know we have been keeping you waiting for an announcement for too long. So here we go, we are very excited to announce that one of the leading and most respected US venture capital firms, Charles River Ventures, has invested in Maxthon. CRV joins early investors Morten Lund (Skype seed investor) and WI Harper who invested in Maxthon, June last year. Of all the VC's pitching us (yes I agree that is a quite unusual side to be on..) ever since we received the Red Herring Asia 100 award, CRV really impressed us the most. Except for their genuine passion and deep network, they also share our vision of where the future of the Web is going.
The deal was lead by Bill Tai, general partner at CRV. Bill is an amazing guy with a fantastic track record, named by Forbes to their list of "Top 100 Dealmakers in Technology". We have already enjoyed working together on several deals prior to the investment, and I can say with complete confidence that they have already delivered.
The investment will be used to further fuel development , new services, marketing and geographical expansion. We know how anxious you all have been waiting for more frequent releases, additional features and more marketing efforts. Now we will finally be able to live up to those demands and show the world what a great browser Maxthon really is, and what a fantastic community it has.

Great news, I suppose, although I think it will be tough to 'compete' with something like Firefox: it has the image of being 'sexy and hot' (for self-proclaimed trendsetters and wannabes), while it doesn't offer what Maxthon offers... but the resentment against IE (security flaws, no tabs etc.) is understandable.
On the other hand, IE is big, so if Maxthon is promoted properly and keeps adding value, a take over by M$ is not unlikely - it's just strange they don't just add (more) Maxthon-functionality in IE 7.0....
Please look at this: "...Except for their genuine passion and deep network..." - I think you mean: " ... besides\apart from their genuine passion and VAST network, they also..."
Keep up the good work - let's see where you guys are heading.

wow that is the great new for Maxthon's fan.
Charles River Ventures is one of the sucessful venture capital in 90s during US IT bubble.
But I wonder if those guys in Charles River Ventures are crazy or what. there wont be a future for browser like Maxthon as firefox browser already hit the market. The attention will be more on firefox than other browsers. So Maxthon has to compet with the existence IE and popular new comer firefox.
One more, Maxthon is only the add on of IE (it uses ie engine). So you expect that Microsoft guys will buy Maxthon for it IE plug in feature?
That s only my idea of venturing; it s not related to my browser favor. I am also using Maxthon.

This is good, now maxthon should have a steady economy and i hope you just have to focus on your products now and not your financial bit :).

In my prior comment I meant change the TEXT of your announcement...

You may want to change the of your announcement. Where it reads: "...mostly respected US venture capital firms..." I think you mean: "...most respected US venture capital firms..."
And give us 2.0 already!...;=D

Very disapointed with you maxthon guys, are you sure there's anybody interested in who gives you money? And one other thing, your M2 previews are only available to some "privilege ones", what da hell is that, why can't this world be equal and open to everyone, sure this is OPERA's philosophy, at least 9 weeklies are for everyone...
